If you will be bringing your own rifle, download the SAP 520 temporary rifle import permit and the trophy requirements document. Please note to accompany your SAP520 form, you require:
- Copy of your passport
- Copy of your itinerary
- Proof of ownership of your rifle; form 4457 from your local customs office
- Proof of export (obtained at the airport upon departure of US or from country of origin and may not be older than 6 months old!
- Letter of invitation from us, your hunting outfitter

Visitors bringing firearms into South Africa for hunting purposes, will be asked to fill in a SAP 520 – Temporary Import Application which is available from your outfitter, or which can be downloaded off the SAPS Website athttp://www.saps.gov.za/crime_prevention/firearms/import_info.htm, or which can be filled out on arrival. We would suggest filling in the form beforehand to save the processing time at the Police Office.
